Between a one-meter leash and letting your dog off-leash entirely, there is a missing step. That’s what a long line is for: your dog can sniff, wander, and come back—all while you keep hold of the line. It is the essential tool for recall training, and the only way to give freedom to a dog that doesn't reliably return yet.
-
2 cm flat webbing — slides through the hand and won't burn your fingers like a round rope.
-
Swivel carabiner — the swivel rotates on itself: no tangling when the dog circles around you.
-
Sewn handle — a loop at the other end so you never lose control.
-
Three lengths — 5m for the yard, 10m for the park, 15m for tracking.
-
Two colors — discreet black, or high-visibility red for tall grass.
Upon receipt: a small metal pin holds the roll in place during shipping. Remove and discard it before the first outing, and keep it out of reach of children.
How to use it
-
Remove the pin from the roll and unspool the line completely for the first time.
-
Attach it to a harness rather than a collar: over 10m, a sudden jerk on the neck could cause injury.
-
Keep the handle on your wrist and let the slack trail on the ground, without wrapping it around your hand.
-
Call, reward, then reel in the slack. The long line is meant to prevent escape, not to forcefully pull the dog back.
-
Rinse and let dry after a muddy outing.

Good to know: a long line should be used in open areas. Avoid it in town, among pedestrians and bicycles—10m of webbing on the ground is a tripping hazard.
