- For small dogs and cats. Stick to the maximum weight: beyond it, the spring wears and the lock can give way. For a heavier dog, choose a fixed leash.
- Clip it to a harness rather than a collar, especially for a dog that sets off quickly.
- Lock it near roads, bikes and other dogs.
- Never let go of the case with the leash extended: as it rewinds, it shoots towards your dog and can frighten it.
